The Auction Expert Selling Guide
#4 Cameras, Computers &
Electronics
Cameras, computer equipment,
stereos, VCRs, PDAs, and other consumer electronics are
popular items on eBay. The Auction Expert accepts a wide range of
these items, so long as they meet our criteria:
- The item must have an estimated eBay value of at least
$50.
- The item must be in good working order (or have valuable
parts).
- The item must not be restricted
by eBay.
Generally, the newer the item,
the better it sells; in fact, many people sell brand new,
unused equipment at bargain prices on eBay.
The
best-selling items are those that:
- include all of the original accessories (cables, power
cords, cases, etc.) and manuals
- come with their original boxes and packing materials
(e.g., styrofoam blocks)
- are in brand new or nearly-new condition, or are
older, rare items that are valuable to collectors
- are clean and free from any damage
Computer
technology advances rapidly, and sometimes an item that was
state-of-the-art just a few years ago is now obsolete; this is
true for many items like computer CPUs and monitors.
Other times an item will appreciate in value because
it was unusual and is prized by collectors; a camera from the
1960s may be worth much more than the original purchase price.
